Principal's Message

Dear Indian Hill Families,

As we welcome the month of May, we are excited to highlight our May/June character trait of the month: Creativity.  Creativity encourages our students to think in new ways, solve problems, express themselves, and explore their unique talents. You can support this at home by encouraging your child to try something new or even find creative solutions to everyday challenges. At school, students will continue to explore creativity through classroom activities, projects, and collaborative learning experiences.

From May 4–8, we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week. Please join me in recognizing and celebrating our amazing staff and faculty for their continued support, dedication, and professionalism. Their commitment to our students makes a difference every single day, and we are truly grateful.

We are also looking forward to our incredible Entrepreneur’s Club Fair at Bell Works on May 7, spearheaded by our amazing teacher, Mrs. Atkinson. This event showcases the innovation, creativity, and hard work of our students, and we anticipate another fantastic experience for all involved.

Our IH Walk-a-Thon will take place on Monday, May 11. This is always a fun and meaningful event that promotes wellness, school spirit, and community engagement.

NJSLA testing will begin on Thursday, May 14 and continue through Wednesday, May 20. To help your child feel confident and prepared, please keep the following reminders in mind:

  • Ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep each evening
  • Provide a healthy breakfast each morning
  • Arrive at school on time and ready to begin the day
  • Send in wired (non-wireless) headphones

We are proud of the effort our students put forth and encourage them to simply do their best.
We are excited to celebrate our 6th grade students at LEAD Graduation on Friday, May 22. Please note that Friday, May 22 will be an early dismissal day, and school will be closed on Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day.

To close out the month, we look forward to Career Day on Friday, May 29, where students will have the opportunity to learn about a variety of professions and future pathways.
It’s shaping up to be a jam-packed month full of wonderful events and meaningful opportunities for our students and families. Thank you for your continued partnership and support.

~Lisa Vitale

AMERICA'S 250TH UPCOMING BIRTHDAY

In celebration of America's 250th upcoming birthday and in partnership with Holmdel's America 250th Committee, Indian Hill 4th graders took part in a town-wide scavenger hunt organized by Holmdel Recreation. This fun, free community event involved students and their families following clues on the Goosechase App. Tasks lead participants around town to discover fascinating information about Holmdel's history and its role in the Revolutionary War. Since the 4th graders study this particular time in our nation's history, it was an opportunity that couldn't be missed! Students had a blast discovering interesting historical facts about Holmdel's role in the American Revolution. The last task of the challenge involved taking a group photo to celebrate the team's success! Students were encouraged to show their patriotic spirit by wearing the colors red, white, and blue. What an incredible photo celebrating the 250th birthday of America!

SCHOLASTIC BOGO BOOK FAIR

The Scholastic BOFO Book Fair is June 8.

MAY IS CYSTIC FIBROSIS AWARENESS MONTH!

The Indian Hill community is recognizing it in a very meaningful way. One of our teachers, Mrs. Neville, has a son living with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and has been actively involved with the Boomer Esiason Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting individuals with CF and funding critical research toward a cure.

The foundation has a powerful mission: to transform the meaning of “CF” from Cystic Fibrosis to “Cure Found.” While there is currently no cure, ongoing research and support bring hope to so many families affected by this disease.

In support of this cause, Ms. Karen Bennett will be running the New York City Marathon under a bib for the Boomer Esiason Foundation. Every dollar donated goes directly to the foundation, helping to improve the quality of life and move closer to a cure.

In addition, Indian Hill is also raising funds for the Special Olympics, supporting athletes as they train, compete, and experience the joy and empowerment of sports.

Way to go, Indian Hill, as always exceeding expectations!

INDIAN HILL SCHOOL WALK-A-THON

The Indian Hill School Walk-a-Thon is on May 11. Please join us in supporting a meaningful cause close to our school community. Mrs. Neville's son, Aidan, lives with Cystic Fibrosis, a lifelong illness, currently without a cure.

Ms. Bennett will be running the New York City Marathon to raise funds for The Boomer Esiason Foundation, which supports research and care for those living with CF.

Please see the flyer here to donate to this powerful cause!

For the walkathon we are sponsoring the special olympics and the CF foundation. Please use the link above.
